Most people have something to say. A story they have been carrying, an image they keep seeing in their head, a way of looking at the world that feels entirely their own. What they do not have is the language for it, the craft, the confidence, and the framework to turn what is inside into something that exists outside.
This programme takes you to Amman, a city built on hills, layered with history, and alive with a creative energy that most people who live here have always felt but rarely stopped to name. Six days to find and build your creative voice, in the city that shaped so many of the stories worth telling.
The sessions move between photography, personal writing, and self-expression. The cohort is small and deliberately diverse. And the city, with its limestone walls, its light, and its particular combination of the ancient and the immediate, becomes the canvas for all of it.

WHY AMMAN?
A city with more stories than it knows what to do with Amman has been lived in for thousands of years. The Roman theatre, the old souqs, the refugee stories, the startup energy, the generational tensions, the particular warmth of a city that has absorbed everything and kept going. Every street here is material. Every conversation is a story waiting to be shaped.
The most photogenic light in the Arab world October in Amman is golden. The limestone catches the afternoon sun in a way that makes even the most ordinary corner look like it was composed deliberately. The city was not designed to be photographed, but it photographs like it was.
Home, seen for the first time There is something specific that happens when you learn to see the place you are most familiar with as if for the first time. Amman rewards that attention more than most cities. The creative work that comes out of this programme tends to be the most honest work participants have ever made, because it is built from the world they actually know.

The Art of Creative Voice and Authentic Expression, six days of building something that is entirely yours.
This is not a traditional course. Every session is task-based, built around real activities, live challenges, and assignments that use Amman itself as the classroom. You will not sit and listen. You will go out, apply, and come back with something real.
- Photography as visual storytelling, seeing versus looking Most people look at things. Photographers see them. The difference is not equipment, it is attention, framing, and understanding what a photograph is actually doing. This session teaches you to see before you shoot, and to make every frame a decision rather than an accident.
- Light and composition The two things that separate a photograph that works from one that does not. Practical, applied, and immediately usable, with Amman's streets, stairways, and rooftops as the workshop.
- Personal essay and memoir writing How to take a lived experience and give it a shape that other people can follow and feel. The difference between a diary entry and an essay that lands. - Turning life experience into narrative The craft of knowing which details to keep, which to cut, and how to build the kind of tension that makes a reader stay. Applied directly to material from your own life, not exercises, not hypotheticals.
- Finding your creative voice Not an exercise in imitation. A process of identifying what is genuinely yours, your observations, your register, your way of being in the world. The session that most participants say changes how they think about everything they make afterward.
- Building a six-day creative portfolio By the end of the programme, every participant leaves with a finished body of work, photographs and written pieces produced during the six days. Not drafts. Pieces that represent what you found here.

Amman Has Always Had Stories. TLeran How to Tell Them.
October in Amman is the best time to be here. The summer heat is gone, the light is soft and warm, and the city moves at a pace that invites you to actually look at it. The hills, the staircases, the rooftops, the old city pressing against the new, all of it is material.

Rainbow Street and the western hills The most walkable part of Amman, full of independent cafes, old villas, and the kind of neighbourhood energy that photographs itself. The morning photography walk starts here.
Jabal al-Qal’a and the citadel The highest point in the city, with views across all of Amman’s hills and the Roman temple ruins in the foreground. The kind of morning that reminds you how old this place actually is.
Downtown Amman and the Roman Theatre The oldest part of the city, where the Roman theatre sits at the base of the hills and the souqs press in from every side. The street photography session takes place here, in the most layered and alive part of Amman.
Jabal al-Weibdeh The neighbourhood where Amman’s artists, writers, and creative community have always gathered. Galleries, independent bookshops, and the particular atmosphere of a place that takes culture seriously.

The gallery showcase, final evening The final portfolio showcase takes place at a Weibdeh gallery space on the last evening of the programme. The work produced during the six days, shown properly, to the people who were there when it was made.
Hashem Restaurant, downtown Open since 1952. Foul, falafel, and tea at midnight in the most honest restaurant in Amman. The group dinner that always ends with everyone talking about coming back.

This programme is designed for anyone 25 and above who wants to build their creative voice, whether through writing, photography, or personal expression. No prior experience in either is required. What matters is that you have something to say and you are ready to find how to say it.
None at all. Participants who have never written beyond emails and those who write regularly get equally as much from the six days. Same for photography, phone camera or professional camera, the sessions work for both.
ou will stay in a comfortable, centrally located hotel in Amman for 6 nights. Rooms are shared twin, two separate beds, one roommate from the programme cohort. The hotel is chosen for its proximity to programme venues and the city's key areas.
